Role Overview

The Senior Associate serves as a senior credit analyst within the Research & Analysis team focused on Institutional Relationships. This role involves managing comprehensive transaction workflows, emphasizing credit evaluation and structuring activities for both current and prospective clients. Additionally, the position includes maintaining ongoing relationships with some of New Zealand's major corporate clients, notably concentrating on the retirement village and aged care sectors. Prior knowledge of these sectors is advantageous but not mandatory, as a growth mindset is valued. The role also includes responsibilities for recognizing and managing operational, compliance, conduct, and reputational risks.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed credit submissions for large, complex customers involving counterparty credit analysis, financial forecasting, and sector assessments while delivering insightful customer perspectives.
• Oversee the annual review process for assigned clients within the portfolio.
• Collaborate closely with internal and external partners, including Senior Relationship Managers, Credit Risk, Debt Capital Markets, Markets, Trade Finance, and Transaction Banking, to enhance customer satisfaction and operational coordination.
• Proactively identify risks and develop mitigation strategies ensuring alignment between the bank's and customers’ interests.
• Ensure Research & Analysis processes, procedures, and reporting meet performance objectives and support the goals of New Zealand Institutional Banking.

Candidate Profile

• Significant banking experience complemented by a relevant degree such as Accounting, Finance, Law, or Engineering.
• Strong credit analysis capabilities and practical experience are essential.
• Deep understanding of credit, market, and operational risk factors across customers, products, and jurisdictions, with knowledge of risk mitigation methods.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Highly driven and well-organized, possessing meticulous attention to detail and the ability to handle competing priorities effectively.
• Solid awareness of financial markets, industry trends, and competitor environments supported by analytical skills.
