About the role
Grey Dog Media is a nationally recognized custom publishing company known for award-winning work. It is hiring a Senior Art Director to shape the visual direction of both print and digital publications. This role is hands-on from early concept development through final artwork, with the goal of producing polished, engaging creative for a nationwide audience.
Key responsibilities
- Develop publication concepts and page layouts using mood boards, sketches, and design templates.
- Direct studio and on-location photo shoots for food, product, lifestyle, and interior projects.
- Work closely with editors, project directors, and clients to deliver strong creative outcomes.
- Oversee page design from text placement through final production, maintaining a high standard of quality.
- Monitor trends in design, culture, and the industry to keep the visual style current and relevant.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, art, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience working as an art director, preferably in magazine publishing.
- A portfolio demonstrating refined layout design, typography, and photo direction skills.
- Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong ability to lead teams, communicate clearly, and stay organized.
- Comfort working in a busy, deadline-focused, collaborative setting.
