Role overview
Kia ora! Air New Zealand is looking for a Senior Applied AI Specialist to help advance AI-supported decision-making within its Data & AI function. In this role, you will shape self-service insight experiences and AI-first workflows that make trusted information easier to access, improve decisions, and help teams work more efficiently. The position contributes to unlocking the broader value of data, analytics, and AI across the organisation.

What you'll do
- Build self-service insight capabilities using AI, BI, and semantic-layer technologies.
- Develop AI-native workflows that include clear human approval points and governance controls.
- Create reusable standards, guardrails, and design patterns for insight generation and AI-based solutions.
- Convert business problems into scalable data, analytics, and AI solutions.
- Work closely with business, Digital, Data, and governance teams to produce reliable and explainable outcomes.
- Drive adoption and ongoing improvement of AI-enabled ways of working.
What we're looking for
- Background in analytics, business intelligence, data products, process design, or digital solution delivery.
- Solid understanding of self-service analytics, insight design, and data storytelling.
- Hands-on exposure to AI-enabled tools, workflow automation, prompts, agents, or decision-support solutions.
- Ability to turn business needs into practical, scalable implementations.
- Strong capability in stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing.
