Job description
About the Role
This opportunity goes beyond traditional commercial positions by focusing on delivering critical help to individuals in urgent and challenging situations, supported by a robust and sustainable commercial framework. The company operates a 24/7 medical assistance and emergency repatriation service that intersects both healthcare and insurance sectors, managing urgent, complex cases worldwide in collaboration with insurers and providers to ensure timely, appropriate care.
You will take on a hands-on commercial leadership role aimed at nurturing, protecting, and growing a trusted Australian and New Zealand (ANZ) portfolio, with strong emphasis on human-focused outcomes. Reporting directly to the CEO for the Asia-Pacific region, you will work within an experienced team and gradually assume broader responsibilities as the role advances.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive commercial performance across principal insurer and global client accounts.
- Own the development and implementation of pricing strategies and commercial governance within core service divisions.
- Make informed decisions on intricate, high-stakes cases balancing clinical care, financial cost, and risk factors.
- Enhance margin discipline through meticulous cost control and optimized provider economics.
- Establish and maintain relationships with hospitals and supplier networks to influence comprehensive outcomes.
- Collaborate with operational teams to refine workflows, improve service delivery, and elevate client experiences.
- Be reliably available for escalation in a 24/7 operational setting, supporting urgent issues though not on daily call.
- Lead and mentor a focused specialist team that includes direct reports in Cost Containment (1), Medevac/Repatriation (2), and Inbound Client Services handling a portfolio of global accounts.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a robust commercial foundation encompassing pricing, negotiations, contract management, and margin responsibility.
- Demonstrate credibility and trustworthiness with senior insurer stakeholders, exhibiting calm, decisive communication.
- Exhibit sound decision-making abilities in high-pressure, real-time situations.
- Maintain high emotional intelligence and maturity to balance care outcomes against commercial objectives.
- Comfortable operating within regulated, risk-sensitive environments with significant reputational considerations.
- Adopt a hands-on approach including detailed problem solving and ensuring effective follow-through.
- Bring experience from industries such as travel or medical insurance, claims assistance, healthcare operations, aviation/logistics, emergency response, or comparable complex 24/7 environments where commercial decisions are critical.
Benefits of the Role
- Opportunity to make meaningful commercial decisions that have direct effects on human health and welfare.
- High autonomy and strong influence within a digitally enabled, process-driven organization.
- Regional exposure across ANZ and broader APAC markets through collaboration with experienced leadership.
- Clear career development path with expanding responsibilities over time.
- Work within a small, high-performing, and dedicated team characterized by strong tenure and a pragmatic approach.
