About the Role
PwC New Zealand stands as the foremost M&A advisory in the market and uniquely offers a comprehensive deals service integrating M&A, infrastructure, debt advisory, property, and transaction services. Recognized for advising on many of the country's most complex and significant transactions, PwC is inviting a Senior Analyst (equivalent to Associate) or Manager to join its Corporate Finance Deals team in Wellington.
This position entails active involvement in live buy-side and sell-side deals with close collaboration with Partners. It offers a defined career progression towards full managerial responsibilities. The role requires ownership of various financial modelling and valuation streams throughout all deal phases and demands collaboration with senior leaders and clients on a broad array of M&A, infrastructure, strategic advisory, and valuation projects. The client portfolio includes private companies, corporates, private equity firms, public sector agencies, and Māori organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in buy-side and sell-side merger and acquisition transactions, including transaction analysis, due diligence, and support for execution activities.
- Develop, evaluate, and maintain financial models and business valuations using methodologies such as DCF, trading and transaction comparables, and scenario analyses.
- Produce polished client deliverables like information memoranda, investment documents, valuation reports, and presentations for boards and shareholders.
- Examine financial performance, identify growth drivers, assess risks, and highlight value creation opportunities to aid investment decisions and negotiation strategies.
- Facilitate transaction execution by managing data rooms, coordinating with other advisors, and addressing buyer and investor inquiries.
- Collaborate closely with Partners, Directors, Managers, and Analysts to deliver commercially viable and technically rigorous advice.
- Enhance commercial insight, transaction proficiency, and professional confidence with clear development pathways.
Qualifications and Experience
- A tertiary degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related fields such as Economics, Mathematics/Statistics, Law, or Engineering.
- Between 3 to 7 years' experience in corporate finance, investment banking, transaction advisory, corporate development, or related financial markets, preferably within Big 4 or similar firms.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, demonstrated through building and reviewing complex financial models and valuations.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to craft succinct, high-quality written materials suitable for board-level audiences.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with confidence in engaging within deal teams and interacting with clients.
- A proactive approach, strong organizational skills, and capacity to thrive under fast-paced, demanding transaction environments.
- Progress towards or completion of CFA or Chartered Accountant qualifications is an advantage.
Benefits and Workplace Culture
- Opportunity to be part of a supportive, high-achieving, and inclusive team environment.
- Structured learning programs, coaching from experienced leaders, and access to global tools, insights, and networks to ensure career growth.
- Monetary benefits including discretionary bonuses, referral incentives, and retail discounts.
- Professional development supported by leadership training, AI tools education, and formal learning pathways.
- Health and wellbeing focus with an annual allowance, life and income protection coverage, employee assistance programs, generous sick leave, and group-rate health insurance eligibility.
- Reputation enhancement by working with a firm known for innovation and societal contribution.
- Flexible work arrangements complemented by a supportive coaching culture.
- Additional time off including two paid recognition days during annual summer shutdown and the option to purchase extra annual leave.
- Inclusive family and community support with paid parental leave, flexible working options, financial planning assistance, inclusive networks, and paid volunteering leave.
