Role Overview

The Senior AI Product Owner will lead the delivery of Data and AI products across designated business areas, with a primary focus on Retail or Wholesale Banking. This role carries end-to-end accountability for product direction, prioritization, and execution, ensuring that business goals are closely aligned with delivery by Data & AI Lab teams.

The position acts as the key link between business and technology, converting strategic needs into scalable data and AI solutions while driving value delivery, strong governance, and execution quality across the product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Own the product vision and roadmap for data and AI solutions within the assigned business domain.

Work with domain leaders and senior stakeholders to uncover opportunities that create measurable business value through data.

Serve as the main contact point between the Data Lab and business teams, ensuring clarity, alignment, and shared ownership of outcomes.

Manage expectations, evaluate priorities, and lead discussions on trade-offs when needed.

Keep senior management and steering committees informed about progress, risks, and dependencies.

Maintain and prioritize the product backlog across multiple teams, including data engineering, data science, machine learning engineering, and business intelligence.

Collaborate with technical leads and architects to define epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

Ensure the delivery of dashboards, machine learning models, data products, and AI-enabled capabilities is timely and of high quality.

Facilitate sprint planning, retrospectives, and ongoing improvement with Agile teams.

Lead the full delivery lifecycle, from requirements and design through development, testing, and release.

Coordinate dependencies between teams, manage capacity, and align release schedules across the Data Lab portfolio.

Support integration of Data Lab outputs with enterprise systems and business processes.

Set and monitor KPIs and success measures for each product.

Ensure all solutions comply with the bank’s policies on data governance, privacy, and security.

Partner with the Data Governance team to monitor data quality, lineage, and ownership for the assigned products.

Skills and Competencies

The role requires a strong grasp of banking operations, including retail, corporate or wholesale, and digital channels.

Applicants should bring a solid product management background, ideally gained in data, AI, or digital transformation settings.

You must be able to convert business needs into practical data and AI product requirements.

Experience in building roadmaps, defining KPIs, and tracking return on investment is important.

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential for working with senior business and technology leaders.

The role also calls for the ability to guide cross-functional delivery teams and manage priorities effectively.

A strategic, entrepreneurial mindset is needed to balance innovation with operational discipline.

Technical awareness should include familiarity with the AI/ML lifecycle, analytics, business intelligence, reporting, and modern data platforms such as lakehouse, streaming, and APIs.

Experience in Agile or hybrid delivery environments is also expected.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in AI, Data Science, Finance, Information Systems, or a similar discipline is required.

Candidates should have more than 10 years of experience in product management, program management, or data and AI delivery.

A proven record of delivering complex data or AI products in financial services or technology organisations is needed.

Agile certification such as Scrum Product Owner, SAFe, or an equivalent credential is preferred.

PMI PMBoK certification is also preferred.
