Role overview
Millennium Services Group Limited is seeking dependable and professional Security Officers for a part-time opening at Hornby in Christchurch, within a shopping centre environment. The company is a major provider of integrated property services across Australia and New Zealand, covering cleaning, security, maintenance, and facilities management, and has spent more than 20 years building a strong safety-focused approach.
In this position, you will help keep the site safe while also offering a courteous, service-oriented presence to staff, visitors, and clients. The job combines patrolling, responding to incidents, and handling client-facing security duties.
Location: Hornby, Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand
Employment type: Part-time
Work setting: Onsite
Shift: Friday, 5:00 PM to 10:15 PM
Pay rate: $28 per hour
Key responsibilities
- Carry out patrols to protect people, property, and assets.
- Maintain a visible, professional, and approachable security presence.
- Attend to alarms, incidents, emergencies, and assistance requests.
- Recognise risks, evaluate situations, and respond according to procedures.
- Follow all site-specific and company security requirements.
- Prepare incident reports and keep records accurate and up to date.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant should already have experience in security work and be comfortable operating independently. Retail security exposure is considered an advantage. You should also be reliable, punctual, physically fit enough for patrol duties, and able to follow instructions and procedures carefully.
Requirements
- Valid security licence.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Certificate of Approval (COA).
- Prior security experience; retail security experience is highly desirable.
- Availability for day and night shifts as well as weekday work.
- Good physical condition for patrol-based duties.
- Capability to work alone and comply with established procedures.
- Strong focus on detail.
- Consistent and dependable attendance history.
- Full working rights in New Zealand.
