The opportunity
An opening is available for a dependable and motivated cleaner to join the team in Christchurch Central City. This position suits someone who enjoys a busy environment, pays close attention to detail, and takes pride in keeping spaces clean, tidy, and welcoming.
Work schedule
This is a part-time role with the following shifts:
- Saturday: 4:30 AM to 7:00 AM
- Sunday: 4:30 AM to 7:00 AM
The hourly pay rate is $24.25.
Key duties
- Carry out routine cleaning tasks to a consistently high standard
- Clean and refresh furnishings through spot cleaning
- Sweep and mop floors
- Clean toilets and washroom areas
- Collect and remove rubbish
- Clean glass surfaces, both inside and outside
- Dust hard surfaces thoroughly
About you
The preferred candidate will have prior cleaning experience, ideally in a commercial setting, and be comfortable working independently as well as within a team. Strong reliability, punctuality, customer service, and attention to detail are important for success in this role. Experience using ride-on machinery is required, and familiarity with floor care equipment such as scrubbers, buffers, or sweepers would be an advantage.
Additional requirements
- Reliable transport is essential
- Ability to follow instructions and work autonomously
- Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety practices
- Willingness to work flexible hours and public holidays when needed
- Must be 18 years or older due to health and safety policies
- All training and health and safety communication is provided in English only, so strong spoken and written English comprehension is required
- Applicants must have valid work rights in New Zealand
