Scientific Writer and Research Analyst - Blood Cancer Research

Overview

The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) invites applications for a full-time Scientific Research Analyst position in Philadelphia, PA. This role centers on contributing expert knowledge in blood cancer subtypes including leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, MDS, and CHIP, to advance AACR’s mission in cancer research.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a subject matter specialist in blood cancer research to support AACR’s scientific goals.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of hematologic malignancy research developments.
• Critically review, interpret, and synthesize scientific literature to aid in preparing AACR progress reports and other scholarly outputs.
• Craft high-quality scientific documents such as commentaries, perspectives, and expert analyses for dissemination to various internal and external audiences including scientists, clinicians, policymakers, advocates, and the public.
• Engage in AACR conferences, summits, and workshops to gather insights and track emerging cancer research trends.
• Ensure all written materials uphold scientific rigor and accuracy.
• Perform additional related tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• PhD or comparable doctoral degree in biological sciences or a related discipline.
• A minimum of five years' experience focused on hematologic malignancies, with peer-reviewed publications in blood cancer research.
• Strong skills in scientific writing and editing, capable of translating complex scientific ideas into accessible language for diverse audiences.
• Ability to accurately interpret and present scientific data clearly.
• Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills and experience in collaborative, multidisciplinary team settings.
• Demonstrated capability to manage multiple projects effectively under tight deadlines.
• Preferred expertise in blood cancer therapeutics.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with online collaboration tools such as SharePoint, Teams, and Zoom.
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Knowledge of data visualization software like Tableau or Power BI is advantageous.
• Experience using reference management software such as EndNote or Mendeley.
