Job description

About the Role

The Lunch Bag provides nutritious hot meals to schoolchildren throughout Ireland and is focused on helping children develop healthy eating habits that last. This position is based in a school setting in Meath Hill, County Meath, where you will help make the lunch routine run smoothly and bring a positive presence to the school day.

This is a part-time role suited to someone who is dependable, upbeat, and comfortable working in a school environment. Meals are prepared centrally in Nenagh, Tipperary and delivered to schools, where you will take responsibility for warming and serving them.

Key Duties

  • Place pre-packed meals into ovens and heat them to the required temperature in line with HACCP standards.
  • Remove meals from ovens and deliver lunches to classrooms.
  • Check that stock levels are sufficient and replenish supplies when needed.
  • Keep to the agreed work and cleaning routine.
  • Record food temperatures and cleaning activity accurately.
  • Top up fruit bowls in classrooms.
  • Hand out snacks to classrooms.
  • Support the smooth running of the lunch service as the main school contact on site.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone with a positive attitude who takes pride in doing the job well and can represent the company professionally in school. You should be able to work efficiently, remain composed when busy, and handle the responsibilities with care.

The role involves lifting boxes up to 14 kg and may require using stairs, as not all schools have lift access. A good command of English, the ability to follow instructions, and care when heating meals are essential. Previous experience with children or food service is helpful, but not required.

Working Pattern

This position is part-time and requires 2 hours of work per day, Monday to Friday. The schedule follows the school calendar, so you will typically work about 183 days per year and have the school holidays off, including summer closure periods.

Pay and Benefits

The hourly rate for this role is €14.65. You will also be part of a supportive team and work in a friendly school environment. The role offers flexibility and is a good fit for someone looking for steady term-time work or a way to ease back into employment.

Training

Training in HACCP and manual handling will be provided.

Additional Information

The role is a chance to contribute to children’s daily experience in school while working in a setting that values care, reliability, and teamwork.
