Role overview
This full-time, on-site position in Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador is for a sandwich artist at Subway. The role centers on preparing food quickly and accurately, serving customers at the counter, and keeping the food prep and service areas clean, organized, and stocked.
Education
No formal degree, certificate, or diploma is required.
Responsibilities
- Store dishes and other items in the appropriate storage area.
- Wash and sanitize dishes and related items by hand.
- Pack food orders for take-out.
- Prepare, heat, and finish basic menu items.
- Assist customers at counters or buffet-style service areas.
- Take customer orders.
- Use manual and powered equipment to clean, peel, slice, and trim food ingredients.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, equipment, and appliances.
- Handle cleaning supplies and store them safely.
- Receive deliveries and put supplies away in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage spaces.
- Remove garbage and kitchen waste.
- Sweep, mop, wash, and polish floors.
- Wash, peel, and cut fruits and vegetables.
Certificates and licences
A First Aid Certificate and a Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate are required.
Equipment experience
Prior experience with an electronic cash register is expected.
Security and safety
A criminal record check is required.
Work conditions
The work is fast-paced, repetitive, and physically demanding. The role involves long periods of standing and working under pressure. You may need to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
Personal qualities
Reliability and the ability to work well as part of a team are important.
Schedule
Work may include day, evening, night, shift, and weekend hours. The position requires 35 to 40 hours per week and is permanent. The workplace language is English.
