Job description
Company Overview
Chit Chats Express is focused on helping Canadian entrepreneurs ship more easily, more affordably, and with less complexity. As a growing, entrepreneurial business, the company supports organizations of many sizes in reaching customers worldwide with greater confidence.
With e-commerce removing geographic barriers, the company aims to give Canadian businesses a shipping partner that helps them compete internationally without unnecessary hurdles or high entry costs. The goal is to deliver a smooth, borderless shipping experience that enables growth, opportunity, and long-term success for businesses across Canada.
Candidates who are motivated by purpose, interested in growth, and comfortable working in a collaborative setting are encouraged to apply.
Role Summary
The Sales Representative plays a key role in finding, assessing, and converting new business prospects into active clients. The position is centered on relationship building with potential customers, learning their shipping requirements, presenting suitable Chit Chats solutions, and helping guide them toward a purchase decision.
This position involves lead follow-up, discovery conversations, qualification of opportunities, preparation of pricing comparisons and proposals, and collaboration with internal teams to make sure each client can be supported effectively.
Reporting to the Sales Manager, Business Development, this role directly supports revenue growth by turning qualified leads into active shipping clients and ensuring a smooth transition to onboarding and account management once shipping begins.
Responsibilities
- Find and develop new business opportunities through outbound prospecting, inbound leads, referrals, marketplace research, and reactivation efforts.
- Run discovery calls to learn about client shipping volume, current carriers, pain points, platforms, service expectations, and growth plans.
- Assess prospects based on business fit, shipping profile, compliance needs, operational viability, and projected revenue.
- Explain Chit Chats services in a clear, professional manner while adapting the conversation to each prospect’s situation.
- Create simple pricing comparisons, savings summaries, proposals, and follow-up documents.
- Partner with the Sales Manager, Data, Product, and Operations teams on more complex pricing or service-fit questions.
- Keep CRM records accurate for leads, opportunities, and client details.
- Log outreach, follow-ups, next actions, and pipeline stage changes consistently.
- Work closely with Onboarding and Account Management to ensure a smooth post-sale handoff.
- Maintain regular, professional follow-up to move prospects through the sales funnel.
- Surface client feedback that can support future product ideas, service improvements, marketing efforts, or partnership opportunities.
- Support campaigns, segment-based outreach, and market research projects.
- Achieve or exceed activity, pipeline, conversion, activation, and revenue goals assigned to the role.
Requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Comfort with outbound prospecting, discovery calls, follow-up communication, and client presentations.
- A customer-focused approach with the ability to identify pain points and suggest workable solutions.
- Strong organization and the ability to manage multiple prospects at different stages at the same time.
- Ability to quickly learn the company’s services, pricing structure, shipping workflows, compliance factors, and operational expectations.
- Hands-on experience with CRM systems, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and basic reporting tools.
- Solid problem-solving ability and comfort working with cross-functional teams.
- Self-driven, resilient, and able to stay motivated against sales targets.
- Ability to balance revenue growth with client suitability, profitability, and operational practicality.
- Post-secondary education or equivalent practical experience.
- 1 to 3+ years of experience in sales, business development, customer success, account management, or sales support.
- Experience in e-commerce, shipping, logistics, marketplaces, or services for small businesses is an advantage.
- B2B sales experience, ideally in logistics, transportation, or a related field, is considered an asset.
