Job description

Company Overview

Chit Chats Express exists to make shipping easier, more reachable, and more affordable for Canadian entrepreneurs. The company is growing quickly and supports businesses of all sizes in serving customers globally with greater confidence.

With e-commerce removing geographic barriers, the organization aims to give Canadian businesses a shipping partner that helps them compete internationally without unnecessary complexity or high entry costs. The focus is on delivering a smooth, borderless shipping experience that helps companies grow and succeed over the long term.

Candidates who are motivated by purpose, eager to grow, and comfortable working in a team-oriented environment are encouraged to consider this opportunity.

Role Summary

The Sales Representative plays a key part in finding, evaluating, and converting new business prospects into active clients. The position centers on building trust with potential customers, learning about their shipping requirements, explaining suitable Chit Chats solutions, and supporting them through the buying process.

This role involves lead follow-up, discovery conversations, opportunity qualification, proposal or pricing comparison preparation, and collaboration with internal teams to ensure the customer can be supported effectively.

Reporting to the Sales Manager - Business Development, the representative directly supports revenue growth by turning qualified prospects into shipping clients and assisting with the transition to onboarding and account management when the client is ready to start shipping.

Responsibilities

  • Source and develop new business through outbound prospecting, inbound inquiries, referrals, marketplace research, and re-engagement campaigns.
  • Run discovery conversations to understand shipping volume, carrier usage, pain points, platforms, service needs, and growth potential.
  • Evaluate prospects using factors such as commercial fit, shipping profile, compliance needs, operational practicality, and expected revenue.
  • Present Chit Chats services in a clear, professional way and adapt the conversation to each client’s situation.
  • Build simple pricing comparisons, savings summaries, proposals, and follow-up documentation.
  • Partner with the Sales Manager, Data, Product, and Operations teams on more involved pricing or service-fit questions.
  • Keep CRM records accurate for leads, opportunities, and client details.
  • Log outreach, follow-ups, next actions, and deal progression consistently.
  • Coordinate with Onboarding and Account Management to support a smooth transition after a deal closes.
  • Maintain steady and professional follow-up to move prospects through the pipeline.
  • Surface client feedback that could guide future products, service enhancements, marketing efforts, or partnership ideas.
  • Support sales campaigns, vertical-focused outreach, and market research projects.
  • Work toward or exceed assigned targets for activity, pipeline, conversions, activations, and revenue.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Comfort with cold outreach, discovery calls, follow-up work, and client presentations.
  • Previous experience selling in logistics B2B is a strong advantage.
  • A client-focused approach with the ability to understand pain points and suggest practical solutions.
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to juggle multiple prospects at different stages.
  • Willingness to learn the company’s services, pricing model, shipping workflows, compliance needs, and operational constraints.
  • Experience with CRM tools, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and basic reporting systems.
  • Good problem-solving ability and confidence working with internal teams.
  • Self-driven, resilient, and comfortable being measured against sales goals.
  • Ability to balance revenue growth with client suitability, profitability, and operational feasibility.
  • Post-secondary education or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 to 5+ years of experience in sales, business development, customer success, account management, or sales support.
  • Experience in e-commerce, shipping, logistics, marketplaces, or small business services is considered an asset.

Additional Information

Compensation and total rewards:

  • Starting salary of $55,000 per year, plus eligibility for a tiered sales incentive plan (commission).
  • Employer-paid group benefits covering health, dental, and vision at 80%, available after 3 months.
  • Annual year-end bonus.
  • Two weeks of paid vacation, negotiable.
  • Paid birthday leave.
  • GRSP eligibility after 3 months of employment.
