Position Overview
The Spar Retail Supervisor for the night shift plays a crucial role in supporting the Retail & Forecourt Manager and Area Manager by helping achieve store objectives concerning sales and profitability. This is accomplished through effective management of both store operations and personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily retail sales team activities, ensuring tasks are completed to high standards.
- Maintain consistent, top-quality customer service at all times.
- Delegate responsibilities and communicate clearly with team members.
- Manage employee induction and training effectively.
- Update the team regularly on sales performance.
- Support recruitment of exceptional retail sales assistants.
- Assist in managing team performance appropriately.
- Maintain attractive merchandising in compliance with company policies.
- Ensure store cleanliness and upkeep meet standards.
- Coordinate in-store promotions and relay information about them promptly to staff.
- Enforce proper cash register operation and cash handling procedures.
- Keep shelf labels current on a weekly basis.
- Respond to local market competition and trends suitably.
- Handle customer complaints professionally and provide effective resolutions.
- Initiate store improvements based on customer feedback.
- Support stock management tasks including preparation for stock takes and minimizing loss through spoilage, damage, or theft.
- Ensure food safety and waste protocols are followed by the sales team.
- Verify adequate stock levels and proper rotation to reduce waste.
- Ensure secure store opening and closing procedures alongside the manager.
- Help with compliance regarding Labour Law, HACCP, Health & Safety, and Consumer Legislation.
- Identify and mitigate potential store hazards, cooperating on Health & Safety checks.
- Conduct daily cash counting, prepare deposits for secure pickup, and manage cash floats accurately.
- Manage money lodgments in the ATM.
- Complete and submit financial and stock reports to Head Office on a daily or weekly basis as required.
- Organize monthly stock counts and oversee related administration such as transfer dockets, returns, and discrepancies.
- Prepare work schedules jointly with the Retail Manager and ensure wages reports are accurate and submitted timely.
- Fulfill miscellaneous duties as directed by Head Office or management.
- Demonstrate flexibility by assisting at tills during busy periods.
