Overview
The Resident Medical Officer (RMO) will deliver continuous clinical care to hospitalized patients, primarily focusing on those undergoing oncology treatment. This role involves supporting consultant oncologists, monitoring patient health, managing urgent medical situations, maintaining detailed clinical records, and coordinating effectively with nursing and multidisciplinary teams to provide safe, timely, and compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive initial assessments of admitted patients, recording medical histories, examination results, and treatment strategies.
- Perform regular rounds to assess patient status, monitor vital signs, review investigations, and evaluate treatment outcomes.
- Offer supportive care to individuals undergoing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation, surgical interventions, palliative care, and other cancer therapies.
- Detect and swiftly manage any treatment-related complications.
- Communicate immediately with consultant oncologists concerning any major changes in patient conditions.
- Assist in handling critically ill and emergency cases following hospital protocols.
- Coordinate with nursing teams to ensure timely delivery of prescribed medications, fluids, blood products, and other supportive therapies.
