Job description

Overview

The Research Program Director is responsible for providing comprehensive leadership and management for the Adult Chronic and Acute Leukemia Program at a leading cancer center. This role involves strategic planning, operational oversight, and administrative direction to promote the program's clinical, academic, and research goals. The Director collaborates extensively with faculty and institutional partners to oversee financial stewardship, research administration, educational projects, and faculty support, facilitating program growth and ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.

Key Duties

  • Lead strategic and operational efforts to advance the chronic and acute leukemia program in coordination with faculty and external collaborators.
  • Manage program operations including budgeting, resource allocation, grant and philanthropic fund oversight, in partnership with institutional leadership.
  • Engage actively in fundraising activities, including preparing proposals and collaborating across departments for donor engagement.
  • Plan and execute educational and scientific events such as workshops, tumor boards, symposia, retreats, and faculty/trainee development programs.
  • Coordinate complex projects and initiatives by prioritizing tasks, engaging stakeholders, tracking progress, and ensuring objectives are met on schedule.
  • Support recruitment, academic endeavors, manuscript preparation, presentations, and professional development of faculty, trainees, and research staff.
  • Forge and maintain partnerships with internal departments, industry sponsors, funding agencies, and patient advocacy groups to support program goals.
  • Implement operational policies and quality improvement measures that boost efficiency, compliance, and continuous enhancements in program workflows.
  • Oversee personnel management including hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and employee engagement activities.
  • Perform additional related responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in sciences or a related field is required; a master’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience working within a medical or hospital setting.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or management role.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $126,221 to $259,476 annually, with final pay dependent on experience, education, and organizational needs. This range excludes bonuses, incentives, or other benefits.
