Research Associate in International and European Law, Behavioural Science, and Sustainable Development

Position Overview

This role involves both teaching and conducting research within an international and interdisciplinary team led by Prof. Dr. Eva van der Zee LL.M, focusing on international and European law, sustainable development, and climate change. The position integrates behavioural science perspectives such as behavioural law and economics, sociology, political science, and psychology.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver teaching duties amounting to 2.25 LVS, covering International and European Law, and/or Law and Economics.
• Engage actively in research related to sustainable development and climate change.
• Provide substantive and organizational support for projects within the research domain.
• Dedicate at least one-third of working hours to individual academic research activities, including pursuing a doctoral dissertation.

Candidate Profile

• Possession of a university degree in relevant fields such as international law, European law, law and economics, or closely related legal disciplines (e.g. First State Examination in Law, LL.M. or equivalent).
• An interdisciplinary background, especially including behavioural law and economics, sociology, political science, or psychology, is strongly preferred.
• Applicants from social sciences with interest and affinity to legal or regulatory issues are invited to apply.
• Strong motivation to pursue a doctoral thesis and conduct research on sustainable development and/or climate change.
• Experience publishing in international peer-reviewed journals and organizing academic events is an advantage.
• Proficiency in English for academic writing and presentations is required; knowledge of German is advantageous.
