Overview
This role involves conducting remote monitoring calls to migrant and refugee populations in transit, under the United Nations World Food Programme's initiative in Peru. It is a short-term, online, voluntary assignment, lasting six weeks and involving 11 to 15 hours per week. Volunteers will receive a certificate upon successful completion but will not receive monetary compensation or formal contract entitlements.
Organizational Context and Objectives
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the largest humanitarian organization globally focused on saving lives in emergencies and delivering food assistance to build a path toward peace, stability, and prosperity for populations affected by conflicts, disasters, and climate change. Despite global food abundance, issues like conflict, climate change, inequality, and recent pandemics mean hunger still affects millions worldwide. WFP works in over 120 countries, helping displaced and vulnerable communities with food assistance, nutrition programs, and support for smallholder farmers.
In Peru, WFP supports Venezuelan refugees and migrants facing food insecurity aggravated by COVID-19 and resource constraints. The assignment aims to complement government social protection efforts by providing cash transfers and support for vulnerable populations, collecting data to inform evidence-based management, and promoting good nutrition and social protection practices among migrant and refugee families.
Assignment Responsibilities
- Make hopeful and supportive phone calls to refugee, migrant families, and host communities.
- Perform calls focused on data collection regarding nutrition and social protection matters.
- Record all calls and data systematically on the MoDa platform.
- Attend preparatory training on data collection methods before starting the assignment.
- Receive feedback and dual certification after successful participation.
Requirements
- Access to a computer or laptop.
- Telephone capability to make calls within Peru and via WhatsApp.
- Reliable internet connection.
- Experience in monitoring activities.
- Familiarity with data collection tools and techniques.
- Fluency in Spanish at native proficiency level.
