Role Overview
This remote volunteer position involves supporting UNDP Malawi in improving its monitoring and evaluation (M&E) data management systems. It is a short-term 12-week assignment requiring 16 to 20 hours of work per week. Volunteers will assist in enhancing data quality, alignment with corporate standards, and reporting mechanisms to better oversee program outcomes related to Sustainable Development Goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Refine M&E frameworks, data collection instruments, and reporting formats in accordance with UNDP standards and Malawi Country Office requirements.
- Collect, verify, and compile program output and outcome data from partners to support accurate monitoring.
- Conduct data quality assurance by ensuring completeness, consistency, and reliability of information against original sources.
- Update and maintain M&E databases, ensuring data integrity and accessibility for report generation.
- Prepare periodic progress reports, including data summaries, visualizations, and tables, for senior management and program teams.
- Document lessons learned and best practices to inform program improvements and future design.

Candidate Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Economics, Statistics, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Project Management, or related field.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in project management, M&E, data management, or program evaluation.
- Strong understanding of M&E principles, including indicators, data disaggregation, and results-based management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (basic formulas and data entry).
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) and digital data collection platforms (e.g., KoboToolbox, ODK) is advantageous.
- Prior experience with UN agencies or development partners is beneficial.
- Fluent in English.
