About the Positions
The University of Burdwan in West Bengal, India, is inviting applications from qualified Indian citizens for 51 regular faculty teaching appointments across various academic departments. These positions span the levels of Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor with pay scales in accordance with the latest government and UGC guidelines.
Departments and Vacancies
Openings exist in the following departments: Arabic, Bengali, Botany, Chemistry, Foreign Language (Chinese), Computer Science, Economics, Education, Environmental Science, Hindi, History, Library & Information Science, Mathematics, Business Administration (Human Resource), Statistics, Santali, Sanskrit, and Tourism Management. Specific posts are available for Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor along with their category reservations. Candidates must apply separately for each post if interested in multiple positions.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should meet the required minimum qualifications and experience as specified in West Bengal's latest recruitment guidelines based on UGC notifications dated July 2018 and October 2021. These serve as the standard for recruitment in state-aided universities for teaching faculty roles at all three academic levels.
Salary Details
- Professor: Academic Level 14 with a pay range of Rs 144200 to Rs 218200
- Associate Professor: Academic Level 13A with a pay range of Rs 131400 to Rs 217100
- Assistant Professor: Academic Level 10 with a pay range of Rs 57700 to Rs 182400
Additional Conditions
- Selected candidates will initially serve a one-year probation period after which confirmation may be granted upon satisfactory performance.
- Applicable service rules as prescribed by the West Bengal Higher Education Department will govern employment terms.
- An application fee is applicable: Rs 1500 for General category applicants and Rs 1000 for Reserved categories per each applied position.
Application Process
Candidates must submit the completed application form accompanied by all necessary documents in two hard copies to the Registrar’s office at the University of Burdwan's address by 5:00 PM on October 18, 2022. Applications can be delivered by hand or sent via post/courier, which should be routed through proper channels if the applicant is currently employed.
In addition, a single PDF (up to 25 MB) containing the filled-in application and all supporting documents must be emailed to the department-specific email address listed with each subject area. The PDF filename should begin with the department name followed by the candidate's name separated by an underscore.
Applicants for Professor and Associate Professor posts should attach pages showing ISBN/ISSN/DoI numbers for their publications; originals will be requested during the selection committee review.
Applicants must clearly mention the advertisement number and the position title at the top of the envelope when submitting physical applications.
