Role overview
This full-time outpatient registrar position is based in the Ballantyne Neurosurgery surgery department in Charlotte, NC. The role supports the front office and patient access experience for a busy clinical setting, with a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM and 40 hours per week. Benefits are available.
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $19.80 to $29.70 per hour. Base pay is determined by factors such as qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and training. Depending on the position, premium pay may apply for shift or on-call work, and some roles may also qualify for incentive pay and annual performance-based increases.
What you will do
- Deliver compassionate, respectful customer service that supports a strong patient experience.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families, including in sensitive or challenging situations.
- Use sound judgment and critical thinking in a busy environment while working well both independently and as part of a team.
- Handle patient check-in, registration, insurance checks, scheduling, collections, arrival and departure desk tasks in line with established standards and accuracy expectations.
- Encourage patients to use front-end technology during registration.
- Maintain complete and confidential patient records, including insurance, billing, and payment details throughout the visit.
- Support billing-related tasks accurately and route issues to the appropriate billing office when needed.
- Understand emergency codes, required response actions, and relevant federal and state healthcare rules.
- Track inventory and help stock medications, narcotics, and emergency medications/equipment.
Required background
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Computer skills are required.
- Experience in customer relations is required.
- Prior use of medical records software is preferred.
- Front desk experience in a medical practice is preferred.
Physical demands
This role requires extended periods of sitting in a fast-paced office setting. The candidate should also be able to bend and lift up to 10 lbs.
