Job Overview
This is a full-time, 18-month term position (with anticipation of permanency), requiring 75 hours of work every two weeks for the Yukon Department of Justice located in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. Temporary assignments may also be considered.

Role Responsibilities
The Registrar, Land Titles, leads the Yukon Land Titles Office operations and staff, ensuring the accuracy and security of the Torrens land registration system. This role is responsible for administering the Land Titles Act, 2015, the Condominium Act, 2015, and other relevant territorial and federal legislation regarding land registration. The Registrar establishes standards and practices concerning land surveying and conveyance and holds quasi-judicial authority, with decisions subject only to review by the Supreme Court of Yukon.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must be members in good standing with the Law Society of Yukon or eligible for admission. Extensive experience applying and interpreting complex laws and regulations related to real property and land registration is required. Experience advising public clients, legal professionals in private and government sectors, as well as municipal and First Nation governments is essential. Familiarity with electronic registry systems and various computer tools is also necessary.
Additional desired skills include specialized knowledge of real and personal property law, Yukon First Nation Land Claims and Settlement Land, strong legal research, excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Candidates must demonstrate professionalism and diplomacy in client interactions, understand real estate and commercial business contexts, and be adept at working with IT teams to develop electronic registry systems. Previous experience supervising and mentoring staff is advantageous.
Additional Information
The position is designated within Yukon public service and includes travel within and outside Yukon, as well as occasional evening and weekend work.
