Job description

Position Summary

Join the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority team at Concordia Hospital's Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) where you will provide expert registered nursing care to patients with complex and unpredictable medical needs. This role involves independent nursing responsibilities, administering prescribed treatments, and leadership within the healthcare team to facilitate patient care coordination and safe discharge planning. Candidates will align with the vision and values of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and Concordia.

Work Details

  • Position Term: Maternity Leave assignment from July 9, 2026 to September 9, 2027, with possibility of earlier end after notice.
  • Workload: 0.80 FTE, 7.75 hours daily, totaling 2015 annual hours.
  • Shifts: Days, evenings, weekends, standby, and on-call as required.
  • Location: Onsite at Concordia Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum two years recent experience in PACU, critical care, acute surgical, or emergency resuscitation nursing.
  • Graduation from an approved Registered Nursing program and current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
  • Certified Nurse Assistant (C.N.A) or equivalent certification relevant to the program area.
  • Cardiac monitoring and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training required or willingness to obtain within three months of employment.
  • Current CPR certification as per employer policy requirements.
  • Knowledge of nursing standards, ethical codes, regulatory acts, and facility protocols; familiarity with PHIA, Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, WHMIS, and universal precautions.
  • Demonstrated communication, critical thinking, problem solving, prioritization, adaptability, concentration, and the ability to work under pressure both independently and collaboratively.
  • Preference given to candidates proficient in Indigenous languages or knowledgeable about Indigenous customs and values.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications, including Windows, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

Physical Requirements

The position demands moderate to heavy physical effort.

Additional Information

  • A current satisfactory Criminal Records Check including Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check are mandatory prior to employment; associated costs are borne by the candidate.
  • Candidates must not exceed a combined full-time equivalency of more than 1.0 within the WRHA entity.

Salary
