Position Overview
We are collaborating with a rapidly expanding global technology firm seeking a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to manage payroll, benefits, and HR systems across Canada. This role extends beyond simple payroll processing to becoming a subject matter expert on multiple payroll and HR platforms while contributing to the development of an integrated payroll and HRIS system. This presents an opportunity to influence process enhancements, tackle complex operational problems, and design scalable solutions.
Location and Compensation
This is a Canada-based fully remote, full-time role starting at an annual salary of $80,000.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute end-to-end semi-monthly payroll processing for Canada, the United States, and Colombia.
- Handle employee lifecycle activity such as onboarding, terminations, salary updates, direct deposits, and off-cycle payroll payments.
- Ensure payroll compliance, oversee year-end processes including T4s and W-2s, handle ROEs, perform payroll reconciliations, and fulfill government reporting obligations.
- Administer day-to-day employee benefits and pension programs including enrollments, terminations, invoice checks, and employee assistance.
- Maintain accuracy and consistency of data across payroll, HRIS, and benefits platforms.
- Prepare detailed reports on payroll, benefits, and workforce data for Finance and HR departments.
- Identify and implement improvements and automation opportunities for payroll and HR processes while safeguarding compliance and accuracy.
- Collaborate closely with HR, Finance, and organizational leadership to enhance payroll operations and systems.
- Expand responsibilities to include management of payroll functions in additional countries as the company grows globally.
Candidate Profile
- Possess 3 to 5+ years of experience managing full payroll cycles covering Canada, the United States, and Colombia.
- Demonstrate robust knowledge of payroll laws and employment standards in Canada, the U.S., and Colombia.
- Proficient in using ADP payroll software.
- Experience with HRIS platforms such as BambooHR, Rippling, Workday, UKG, Dayforce, or equivalent.
- Advanced skills in Excel with meticulous attention to detail.
- Experienced in administering employee benefits and pension schemes.
- Highly organized with strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
- Able to manage multiple systems and prioritize competing demands effectively.
- Excellent communication skills combined with a customer-centric approach.
