Job description

About the organisation

Summerset is focused on creating vibrant retirement villages where residents can enjoy an excellent quality of life. From the early stages of village development through to everyday care, the team works together with a shared purpose: delivering the best possible experience for residents.

Role overview

In this casual Registered Nurse position at Summerset in the Bay, you will join a flexible pool of nurses supporting the care centre with high-quality aged care. The emphasis is resident-led care, with a strong focus on wellbeing, dignity, and enhancing day-to-day life for older people.

This is an on-call style casual role, so availability at short notice for different shifts is important. Hours are provided as needed, on an as-required basis.

What the role involves

  • Supporting residents with both routine and complex clinical needs, including end-of-life care where required
  • Preparing and reviewing long-term care plans and clinical assessments
  • Leading the care centre during certain shifts and making sound clinical decisions when needed
  • Carrying out planned nursing interventions and checking progress together with residents and their families
  • Guiding and directing caregivers on shift
  • Developing strong, trusting connections with residents and their families

What you need

  • Current New Zealand nursing registration and an active practising certificate
  • Interest in working with older adults and an understanding of how clinical services operate in a retirement village
  • Confidence to lead, stay composed in pressured situations, and bounce back emotionally
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with a wide range of people

Additional information

Summerset values diversity and encourages applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences, and communities. The organisation highlights a culture built on care, teamwork, and a drive for excellence.

Benefits include weekend penal hourly rates, a full uniform provided, and the possibility of moving into part-time or permanent work in the future.

Applications close on Monday 20th July, and the vacancy may be withdrawn earlier if a high volume of applications is received.
