About the Role
West Star Aviation, a rapidly growing independent Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) company with 78 years of experience and over 3,000 employees, is seeking a Regional Safety Manager. This key full-time position is ideally located at Dallas Love Field (DAL), with options for highly qualified candidates in other specified locations including Teterboro, Las Vegas, West Palm Beach, Washington DC, Van Nuys, Chicago, and Seattle. The role centers on fostering and enhancing a robust safety culture while ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with operational leadership to implement and maintain EHS compliance at multiple sites.
- Ensure strict adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and internal safety policies.
- Oversee safety reporting mechanisms and facilitate usage of the company reporting tool, Vocus.
- Lead continuous improvement of West Star's Safety Management System (SMS).
- Create, review, and update technical safety documentation for diverse stakeholders.
- Conduct monthly Safety Action Team meetings at supported sites.
- Support and lead safety investigations as necessary.
- Provide safety-related training and keep meticulous training records.
- Promote safety awareness through data analysis, reporting, and communication.
- Conduct risk evaluations and job hazard analyses to mitigate safety risks.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, technologies, and safety best practices.
- Work collaboratively with the Quality department on safety initiatives.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in aviation operations or safety management.
- Minimum 4 years’ relevant experience, preferably in aviation safety, maintenance, or operational roles.
- Strong knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS), FAA regulations, OSHA, and EPA guidelines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to interpret complex regulations.
- Ability to operate independently while engaging effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills and professionalism with a firm commitment to safety.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass airport security background checks.
- Physical capability to sit, stand, walk for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and climb ladders as needed.
Working Conditions and Expectations
- The role requires work in office and hangar environments with occasional exposure to varying temperatures and operational conditions.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%, mostly self-directed based on business requirements.
- Flexibility to work extended hours or on days off to support operations.
- Use of standard office technology including computers, Apple mobile devices, and Microsoft Office applications.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this role typically falls between $75,000 and $100,000 annually, subject to location, experience, and performance. The total compensation package includes a semi-annual discretionary bonus, medical, dental, vision insurance, life and disability coverage, 401(k) with employer match, paid holidays, and vacation time.
