Overview
Join West Star Aviation, a top independent Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) provider with over 78 years of experience and a workforce of more than 3,000 employees across multiple locations. As a CAD Specialist within the aerospace sector, you will be an essential part of the digital workflow supporting our manufacturing operations in Grandview, TX.
Role and Responsibilities
- Develop, revise, and manage complex 3D models and production drawings utilizing CATIA and Autodesk Inventor software.
- Create 3D models, flat patterns, and detailed shop drawings for manufacturability, adhering strictly to aerospace documentation standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Translate engineering and technical data into precise, shop-ready documentation with maintained revision control and accuracy.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing and quality assurance teams to ensure compliance with rigorous aerospace requirements, such as FAA Part 145 or AS9100 standards.
- Provide backup CNC programming support using Mastercam as needed to assist production processes.
- Identify and help resolve issues related to drawings and manufacturability to facilitate smooth shop floor operations.
- Maintain a high level of certification and traceability for all parts and materials involved.
- Participate in vendor sourcing activities to secure competitive pricing while ensuring compliance with company and safety policies.
Qualifications and Experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Between three and five years of hands-on experience in CAD modeling, especially in aerospace contexts.
- Strong proficiency with CATIA is essential; experience with Autodesk Inventor is also mandatory.
- Solid understanding of GD&T principles and drawing standards pertinent to aerospace engineering.
- Familiarity with CNC machining and basic knowledge of Mastercam software preferred but not required.
- Exposure to FAA Part 145 or AS9100 standards is advantageous.
- Valid driver's license or passport preferred but not mandatory.

- Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, engage in routine walking, bending, stair use, and extended periods of desk/computer work.
