Role Overview

The Regional Placement and Resources Coordinator for the Wellington region plays a pivotal role in supporting tamariki and rangatahi through placement arrangements, transitions to adulthood, and bail support by utilizing all available regional resources. This involves assessing placement options against behavioural, intervention, and risk plans to meet complex needs and collaborating with internal teams to develop appropriate care plans.

This role includes:

• Securing safe and fitting placements
• Ensuring culturally respectful and sound practices
• Managing urgent situations and leveraging resources to find effective solutions
• Identifying a broad range of suitable placement alternatives
• Providing oversight for Youth Justice individuals in community detention
• Allocating resources appropriately according to child and youth needs

Externally, the coordinator will establish and sustain strong relationships with placement and program providers to help tamariki and rangatahi achieve positive outcomes.

Key Skills and Experience

• Understanding of child protection and youth justice laws and procedures
• Experience applying the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989 Youth Justice provisions
• Competency in navigating CYRAS for data extraction and informed decision-making
• Qualifications or experience in social work, psychology, or related fields with insight into social theories, trauma, mental health, addictions, and behavioural challenges
• Effective written and verbal communication with report-writing capabilities
• Strong stakeholder relationship and partnership management skills
• Excellent organisational skills and composure under pressure
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Reliable discretion and ability to gain trust across all levels of staff and providers

Benefits and Conditions

The position offers an impartial remuneration starting from $90,429 up to $100,019 annually, determined by experience.
