Te Maioha is one of five Youth Justice residences operated by Oranga Tamariki throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. Situated in Rotorua, it offers a secure, supportive setting to facilitate positive changes for rangatahi aged 13 to 18, who have offended and are involved in the Youth Justice system. Recognising the complex causes behind offending, Te Maioha aims beyond mere punishment to support rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities

As a Residential Night Attendant at Te Maioha, working a rotating shift pattern from 10pm to 6:30am, five days a week including weekends and public holidays (totaling 40 hours weekly), your primary responsibility will be to oversee the rangatahi overnight. You will ensure their safety and wellbeing, maintain the security of staff (kaimahi), residents, and property during night hours.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a full, clean New Zealand driver's license and satisfy vetting standards as stipulated by the Children’s Act 2014.
• Exemplify strong teamwork capabilities and act as a positive influence and role model.
• Have a lifestyle compatible with overnight shift patterns, particularly from 10pm to 6:30am.
• Demonstrate sound judgment and the ability to respond quickly and effectively in various situations.
• Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• While prior experience in social services or working with at-risk youth is beneficial, it is not mandatory.
