Position Overview

The Métis Nation--Saskatchewan seeks a proactive and dedicated Regional Office Assistant based in La Ronge, Saskatchewan. Reporting to the NR1 Regional Director, the role supports regional goals by delivering comprehensive administrative and community programming assistance with a strong emphasis on quality and client service.

Key Duties

  • Serve as the primary contact for the regional office, welcoming and assisting visitors and callers.
  • Provide support for NR1 community programs and engagement activities.
  • Implement and maintain a systematic filing and record-keeping framework.
  • Manage communications systems for the regional council effectively.
  • Respond courteously and informatively to inquiries, ensuring detailed and helpful information is provided.
  • Organize and file reports and paperwork securely, maintaining confidentiality in line with policies.
  • Coordinate and arrange meetings, both onsite and virtual.
  • Oversee daily operational functions of the office.
  • Collaborate with Ma Faamii staff to assist vulnerable Métis community members in overcoming obstacles related to housing, addictions, social services, IDs, health supports, cultural needs, and transportation.
  • Create promotional materials including advertisements, presentations, and posters using Canva or PowerPoint.
  • Support Métis Locals with cultural program reporting, financial documentation, and receipt gathering by coordinating with the Finance department.
  • Distribute necessary supplies and materials to Métis citizens as needed.
  • Prepare and provide administrative reports for the Regional Office and Métis Local Offices.
  • Fulfill any other assigned responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in administrative or similar roles considered an asset.
  • Completion of Grade 12 education.
  • Proficiency with technology, including Adobe software and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint).

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Ability to function effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills with analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding of office management systems and procedures.
  • Effective time management skills capable of handling multiple tasks and prioritizing workload.
  • Attention to detail and familiarity with clerical operations.
  • Relationship management expertise.

Additional Requirements

  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to travel to Prince Albert for regional meetings when needed.
  • Submission of a satisfactory Criminal Record Check before employment commencement.
  • Availability to work during evenings or weekends for meetings or community events as required.
