Position Overview

The Regional Director of Operations oversees the comprehensive fiscal, clinical, and operational performance of the skilled home health division across an assigned territory. Reporting directly to the VP of Home Health Operations, this leadership role is dedicated to ensuring superior patient care, adherence to regulatory standards, robust financial outcomes, and efficient organizational practices. The director leads Agency Administrators and Clinical Managers, providing guidance to maintain staffing levels, regulatory preparedness, and alignment with corporate objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership over daily functions of assigned branches, guaranteeing efficient and high-caliber home health service delivery.
  • Enhance clinical quality, optimize operational workflow, and enforce compliance with organizational policies and governmental regulations at all levels.
  • Ensure each branch remains ready for surveys, including supervision of emergency preparedness plans and their execution.
  • Maintain personal clinical proficiency and act as a clinical support resource; conduct skilled visits when licensed.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Operations and QAPI team to sustain QAPI, STAR, and VBP metrics above industry standards.
  • Develop and implement Performance Improvement Plans to meet or exceed regulatory and organizational benchmarks.
  • Work with the Compliance Officer and VP of Operations to ensure regulatory adherence through audits, surveys, deficiency management, and quarterly compliance reviews.
  • Safeguard confidentiality and compliance concerning protected health information under privacy laws.
  • Partner with finance and operations leadership to oversee productivity, episode management, and overall financial health of branches.
  • Drive achievement of revenue, profit, and cash flow goals at branch locations.
  • Monitor operational indicators affecting staffing, quality, revenue, and costs; initiate correctional actions as necessary.
  • Engage as an Executive Team member contributing to strategic planning, coordination, and special committees.
  • Guide and evaluate leadership teams including Agency Administrators and Clinical Managers on operational, leadership, and clinical issues.
  • Coordinate with HR to bolster recruitment, retention, employee engagement, and satisfaction.
  • Identify and recommend staff training and continuing education programs for management and clinical personnel.
  • Ensure all staff meet mandatory regulatory, policy, and educational standards including orientation and ongoing training.
  • Assure presence of a qualified alternate leadership during the agency leadership’s absence during working hours.
  • Facilitate communication of operational developments, policy modifications, and procedural updates promptly and effectively.
  • Maintain and nurture internal communication channels and build strong professional partnerships with agencies, referral sources, healthcare providers, community organizations, and educational bodies.
  • Advocate for a culture centered on professionalism, accountability, customer service, and teamwork.
  • Support referral network development and promote home health services in the healthcare sector.
  • Collaborate with sales leadership to ensure clinical capacity aligns with marketing and growth initiatives.
  • Assess and suggest enhancements to services and programs for improved organizational impact and market growth.
  • Address employee and client concerns promptly, ensuring thorough investigation and resolution.
  • Report feedback and recommendations for corrective action to senior leadership as appropriate.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum three to five years’ experience managing in home healthcare.
  • Preferred at least two years in multi-site health leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated leadership in supervising professional and administrative teams.
  • Strong financial expertise including interpretation and management of financial reports.
  • Excellent communication, leadership presence, and public relations capabilities.
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal oversight.
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare or nursing preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license mandatory with active licensure in operating states.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with current auto insurance.
  • Completion or willingness to complete Texas administrative training (TAC 97.259 / 97.260) post-hiring.
  • Participation in mandatory continuing education and job-required training.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and willingness to undertake additional duties as assigned.
