Regional Director, Field Medical Affairs - East

Position Overview

We are seeking a Regional Director for Field Medical Affairs covering the East region in the United States. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of MSLs to cultivate a collaborative, high-performing, and scientifically driven work culture.
• Set clear goals, territory plans, and performance standards while encouraging growth through coaching and career development.
• Collaborate with Medical Affairs leadership to synchronize field operations with company strategic priorities and initiatives.
• Contribute strategic insights to medical education, product launch efforts, and field medical planning.
• Support MSL teams by providing updated scientific data, clinical insights, and necessary tools for impactful healthcare engagements.
• Manage scientific exchanges with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), clinicians, researchers, and healthcare practitioners.
• Enhance relationships via advisory boards, scientific conferences, and educational events.
• Identify learning gaps and evidence requirements in the medical community and collaborate on relevant initiatives.
• Work cross-functionally with commercial, clinical, regulatory, and operational teams to ensure coordinated execution.
• Maintain compliance with pharmacovigilance, regulatory, ethical, GxP, and privacy standards.
• Track performance metrics of field activities, report insights to leadership, and seek continual improvements.
• Keep abreast of developments in ophthalmology, eye care, and competing scientific advancements.

Candidate Profile

• Advanced scientific degree such as OD, PhD, PharmD, or MD with experience pertinent to eye care.
• Minimum of 10 years in Medical Affairs or related scientific fields, including at least 5 years leading MSL teams.
• Strong expertise in the fields of ophthalmology, optometry, and eye care markets is preferred.
• Proven track record of managing field medical teams within pharmaceutical or healthcare sectors.
• Successful history of building trusted relationships with KOLs, clinicians, researchers, and other stakeholders.
• Excellent leadership skills with the capacity to inspire and develop top-performing teams.
• Strategic thinker with solid decision-making and problem-solving competencies.
• Experience working collaboratively across commercial, clinical, regulatory, and operational departments.
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills able to influence senior-level stakeholders.
• Aptitude for handling uncertainty, prioritizing diverse demands, and delivering measurable results.
• Deep understanding of Medical Affairs compliance standards and practices.
• Willing to travel extensively (50-75%) for KOL engagement, field visits, scientific meetings, and team development.
