Role Overview
The Reconciliations Accountant will join HomeMade's Finance team, working closely with the Finance Manager. The core responsibility is to ensure precise reconciliation of provider invoices, government claims from Services Australia, cashflows, and personal contribution debts. This critical financial oversight role demands accurate and timely reconciliation to uphold operational financial integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed reconciliation of provider invoice payments, identifying and resolving discrepancies within established timelines.
- Match Services Australia claim submissions against payment data, investigating and addressing any exceptions.
- Reconcile cashflows related to provider payments and receipt of claims from Services Australia.
- Monitor and reconcile co-contribution and personal contribution debts, aiding collection efforts as necessary.
- Maintain thorough and accurate record-keeping for audit trails related to reconciliations.
- Prepare and present reconciliation reports to the Finance Manager and stakeholders.
- Promptly investigate resolving outstanding reconciling items, escalating significant issues when needed.
- Support month-end closing procedures by completing all necessary reconciliations accurately and punctually.
- Identify areas for process improvement within reconciliation workflows, data handling, and system tools.
- Collaborate with Finance Operations and Claims & Payments teams to remedy issues impacting reconciliations.
- Coordinate with subsidiary and Group Finance teams as required to align financial processes.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree qualification in Accounting, Finance, or related field; progressing towards or completion of CA/CPA certification highly preferred.
- 2 to 4 years of professional experience in accounting or reconciliation, with proven ability handling large volumes of transaction reconciliations.
- Sound knowledge of accounts payable, claims processing, and cashflow reconciliation practices.
- Exceptional attention to detail and capacity to manage large datasets and identify inconsistencies.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills; familiarity with ERP and data reconciliation tools is advantageous.
- Capability to meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities during critical periods such as month-end close.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude with a systematic approach to exception resolution.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to liaise effectively across finance and operational departments.
- Experience with government funding or healthcare/aged care billing systems, particularly Services Australia, is strongly desirable.
