Job description
About the Role
Do you excel at organization and enjoy welcoming guests from around the world? Join the team at Jugendherberge Eichstätt, a 120-bed youth hostel, as part of a 12-member staff. This part-time role involves working 20 hours per week in alternating early and late shifts across five days Monday to Sunday, with holiday and Sunday shift premiums of 50%. The position is initially fixed until November 2026, reflecting seasonal demand: activity slows during winter when there is a break in duties, with a possibility to resume in spring depending on needs. The role is well-suited for students but open to all applicants.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide warm, professional, and efficient guest services from check-in through check-out.
- Handle inquiries and requests regarding room bookings and program offerings with attentive advice and support.
- Manage reservations via the ASSD booking system, including confirmations, scheduling, and billing to maintain optimal occupancy year-round.
- Collaborate closely with kitchen and other departments to ensure smooth operations especially for special catering needs or events, and oversee small sales or the bistro when required.
Candidate Profile
- Previous work experience in reception or a similar customer-facing position, comfortable interacting with diverse guests.
- Proficient computer skills with familiarity in booking systems, able to maintain composure in busy environments.
- Maintain a neat appearance and demonstrate an open, service-oriented attitude towards guests.
- Independent, organized, and problem-solving work style; recognized as friendly and helpful by colleagues.
- Fluent in spoken and written German and English to liaise effectively with international guests and multicultural teams.
Employee Benefits
- Work-life balance with advance scheduling, a five-day workweek, compensatory overtime, and birthday leave.
- Attractive remuneration including holiday and Christmas bonuses, premium pay for Sundays, holidays (50%), and late shifts (25%), plus annual profit-sharing.
- Comprehensive welfare offerings: company pension plans, asset formation benefits, and health management programs.
- Professional development through extensive seminars and tailored training measures.
- Recreational perks including free Deutsche Jugendherbergswerk membership and discounted or free stays at youth hostels across Bavaria.
- Environmental benefits such as a bicycle leasing program promoting eco-friendly transport.
- Work in a charitable organization committed to sustainability, education, and community development with all profits reinvested towards these values.
