Ranger in Charge - Cairns South

Role Overview

Seeking an experienced leader to oversee a team dedicated to conservation, visitor, and land management in Tropical North Queensland. Based in Cairns, this position offers access to natural attractions such as the Great Barrier Reef and rainforests while contributing significantly to environmental preservation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of rangers in the planning and delivery of diverse park management programs and projects.
• Oversee visitor, asset, fire, pest, and estate management activities ensuring operational priorities and safety standards are met.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to staff to enhance team capability and performance.
• Manage resources, budgets, and maintain necessary records and reports.
• Coordinate emergency response operations effectively.
• Develop and sustain strong partnerships with Traditional Owners, community groups, government bodies, and other stakeholders.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Proven experience in managing people, projects, and operational outcomes in dynamic environments.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to balance administrative duties and fieldwork effectively.
• Commitment to conservation principles, customer service excellence, and workplace safety.
• Possession of a current, unrestricted manual driver's licence.
