Role overview
This is a contract opportunity for a QGIS Specialist to work remotely from Canada. The role involves handling GIS projects from start to finish, with a weekly commitment of 10 to 40 hours. Compensation is set at $40 to $100 per hour.
Key responsibilities
- Take ownership of QGIS projects end to end, including gathering raw spatial data, preparing it, and delivering final map outputs.
- Record workflow steps and the thinking behind them in real time while carrying out data management, spatial analysis, and map creation tasks.
- Sort, clean, and verify spatial datasets to maintain high levels of accuracy and consistency throughout the project.
- Work with projections, coordinate systems, and spatial references to improve interoperability and output quality.
- Apply styling and symbology to map layers so the results are clear and professionally presented across different use cases.
- Identify and resolve issues in QGIS workflows, and communicate the troubleshooting approach as problems occur.
Requirements
- Deep, hands-on experience using QGIS and independently managing complete GIS projects.
- A demonstrated history of producing strong spatial analyses, maps, and geospatial deliverables with QGIS.
- Solid knowledge of spatial file formats, coordinate systems, projections, and core GIS concepts.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills to explain technical choices and workflow decisions clearly.
- Strong abilities in organizing, cleaning, and transforming data within QGIS.
Compensation
The pay range for this contract role is $40 to $100 per hour.
