Role Summary
We are seeking a skilled Associate with at least two years of experience in agency, legislative, or related environments for the California Practice in Sacramento. Reporting to a Principal, the Associate will support both internal teams and clients across multiple public affairs initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead research efforts and contribute to strategy formulation addressing client needs.
- Develop policy-related communications such as letters, statements, and social media content.
- Track and report on legislative, regulatory, and policy developments including hearings and events.
- Maintain and update client reports using Microsoft Office and Google Workspace tools.
- Manage media tracking databases and draft media correspondence.
- Oversee website updates and design marketing materials such as flyers and infographics.
- Supervise and mentor interns to support project goals.
- Provide assistance with various projects and duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of two years’ experience in public affairs, government relations, legislative offices, or state agencies; experience with high-profile campaigns is advantageous.
- Strong organizational, time management skills, with sharp attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Wordpress, and content management systems is a plus.
- Excellent writing skills capable of articulating complex policy issues clearly for varied audiences.
- Proven ability to research and comprehend sophisticated policy topics.
- Competent at managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Capable of working collaboratively in a team and independently with minimal supervision.
- Enthusiastic about mentoring and guiding interns.
Work Details
This full-time position is based in Sacramento and requires a hybrid work arrangement dividing time between the Downtown office and remote work.
Compensation
The annual salary for this position ranges from $55,000 to $70,000.
