Role Overview
Fraser Health has adopted virtual strategies to improve patient care, and this role offers fully remote clinical psychiatric services. The Virtual Psychiatry Unit pioneers acute Mental Health and Substance Use treatment across the Fraser Health Region, delivering care through team-based, inter-professional collaboration. The care is provided to patients in their homes via virtual platforms.
Key Responsibilities
As a qualified or eligible psychiatrist, you will provide expert care to adult patients within Fraser Health as part of an interdisciplinary team. Duties include consulting through the Virtual Psychiatry Unit, supporting patients virtually, and occasionally attending in-person team meetings. The role involves assessment, outpatient treatment, consultations, facilitating family meetings, organizing case conferences, discharge planning, and educating psychiatry residents and medical students.
Collaboration and Advocacy
You will ensure continuous care by building strong collaborative relationships with all healthcare providers involved and advocating for the psychiatric needs of individual patients.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) has recently updated eligibility bylaws to create new opportunities for International Medical Graduates to practice in BC, supporting career development within Fraser Health.
