Protection Testing Engineer - Saudi Arabia/Jeddah

As a Protection Testing Engineer within the Smart Infrastructure Customer Service division, you will contribute to building smarter electrical systems by carrying out protection testing, troubleshooting, and fault analysis across high-, medium-, and low-voltage environments.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and test Siemens SIPROTEC 5 and SIPROTEC 4 relays, along with Reyrolle protection relays.
• Work with protection relays from ABB, GE, and SEL as part of testing and maintenance activities.
• Carry out testing and upkeep of medium-voltage switchgear, including CT, VT, CR tests and circuit breaker timing checks.
• Perform testing and maintenance on low-voltage switchgear, including CT, VT, and CR tests.
• Execute advanced protection testing for functions such as busbar, distance, and line/transformer differential protection.
• Diagnose issues in HV, MV, and LV electrical systems.
• Investigate faults and determine their underlying causes.

Qualifications and experience

• A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Power Engineering or a closely related qualification is required.
• At least 4 years of experience in a similar position is expected.
• Hands-on knowledge of medium- and low-voltage switchgear testing, commissioning, and protection relay testing is essential.
• Experience with Siemens relays and products from other major relay manufacturers is needed.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability are important for this role.
• You should also bring solid skills in critical thinking, organization, communication, job coordination, creative thinking, programming, and leadership.
• Very good written and spoken English is required.
