Job description
About the Opportunity
This six-month secondment sits within Customer and Operation in Darwin, serving Territory customers through TIO, a local insurance business backed by Allianz Australia Insurance Limited and part of the wider Allianz Group. The organisation focuses on the unique risks and conditions in the Northern Territory, including floods, cyclones, and other severe weather events, and offers insurance cover for personal and business needs such as home, motor, marine, business, and workers' compensation.
Role Overview
As an on-road Property Assessor, you will help deliver timely and accurate outcomes for property claims while keeping customer expectations at the centre of the work. The position involves travel to sites, damage evaluation, repair scoping, and coordination with industry partners to move claims forward efficiently.
Key Duties
- Organise, prioritise, and manage your workload to achieve prompt and accurate property claim resolutions.
- Visit damaged properties, inspect the site, and determine the cause of loss, the scale of damage, and the repairs needed.
- Produce clear scopes of work and repair estimates with attention to quality and cost control.
- Work closely with builders, tradespeople, and suppliers to progress claims and remove barriers to completion.
- Review policy cover and liability, handle more complex claims, and work in line with governance, standards, and continuous improvement expectations.
What You Bring
The ideal candidate has background experience in property assessing, insurance, building, or a closely related field, along with a valid Northern Territory driver licence. You should be comfortable applying technical insurance knowledge, understanding property damage and building materials, and using repair methods to support fair claim decisions.
Strong analytical thinking is needed to interpret detailed information and make sound judgments. You should also be confident communicating with stakeholders, using systems and software effectively, and applying policy wording to real claim situations. An interest in emerging technology and digital change is also valued.
Benefits and Culture
- Supportive and inclusive workplace culture focused on customer outcomes and authenticity.
- Flexible hybrid working arrangements and workplace adjustments where suitable.
- Access to mentoring, learning, development, and global mobility opportunities, including more than 10,000 learning resources.
- Discounts on Allianz products plus offers across retail, technology, and travel.
- Financial wellbeing support and the Employee Share Purchase Program.
Culture and Inclusion
TIO promotes a workplace where people of all genders, ages, religions, sexual orientations, and abilities are welcomed and respected. The environment is designed to support inclusion, equal opportunity, and personal growth so that people can thrive and contribute their unique perspectives.
