Employees are expected to contribute ideas proactively, maintain high professional standards, and help build a workplace culture centered on safety, integrity, and strong performance.

Role Overview

The Project Safety Officer is a full-time position based on site in Gimme Bit, Clarendon. The role focuses on making sure day-to-day project work follows health, safety, and security requirements, along with all relevant laws, regulations, and company procedures.

Key Duties

In this position, you will inspect work areas regularly, identify unsafe conditions, and suggest corrective actions. You will also verify that agreed safety measures are actually put in place.

Additional responsibilities include leading safety briefings and toolbox talks, preparing and updating safety records and reports, and helping develop and roll out project-specific safety plans.

You will also coordinate investigations into accidents and incidents, work closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders on safety matters, and actively support a strong safety-first mindset across project teams.

You should also have experience delivering safety training, toolbox talks, and safety orientation sessions for varied project teams.

Knowledge of security procedures and site access control within a project or construction setting is important.

A relevant certification, diploma, or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related discipline is expected.

The role requires the ability to understand and apply safety standards, produce clear written reports, and keep accurate safety documentation.

Strong communication, observation, and problem-solving abilities are needed, along with the ability to positively influence safe work practices on site.

Experience on construction, industrial, or infrastructure projects will be considered an advantage, and familiarity with Jamaican regulations is a plus.
