Job description
Company Overview
UNI-STRAT Consulting and Business Solutions is a professional services company that helps clients with practical, outcome-focused support. Its work spans consulting, implementation, and continuous advisory services across areas like operations, compliance, and risk management. The company places a strong emphasis on teamwork, steady improvement, and building productive relationships with stakeholders. It also expects staff to contribute ideas proactively, maintain high standards, and help reinforce a workplace culture centered on safety, integrity, and strong performance.
Role Overview
This is a full-time, on-site position for a Project Safety Officer based in Appleton, St. Elizabeth. The role focuses on making sure day-to-day project operations comply with health, safety, and security requirements, along with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. The officer will inspect sites regularly, spot potential risks, recommend corrective actions, and confirm that agreed safety controls are actually put in place.
Key Duties
The Project Safety Officer will carry out site walkthroughs, track hazards, and follow up on remediation steps. The position includes leading safety briefings and toolbox talks, preparing and keeping safety records and reports up to date, and assisting with the creation and execution of project-specific safety plans. The role also requires coordinating investigations into incidents and accidents, working closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders on safety matters, and encouraging a strong safety mindset across all teams working on the project.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have solid practical knowledge of health and safety, including occupational health regulations and best practices. Experience in accident investigation and incident reporting is important, as is the ability to trace root causes and suggest preventive actions. The role also calls for experience in delivering safety training, toolbox talks, and safety orientations to varied project teams.
Knowledge of security procedures and site access control within a project or construction setting is needed. A relevant certification, diploma, or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related discipline is required. Candidates should be able to interpret safety standards, prepare clear written reports, and keep accurate records. Strong communication, observation, and problem-solving abilities are essential, along with the ability to influence safer behavior on site. Experience on construction, industrial, or infrastructure projects would be an advantage, and familiarity with Jamaica-specific regulations is considered a plus.
Application Instructions
Interested candidates should submit their CV by June 17, 2026, with the subject line: Project Safety Officer.
