About Temasek
Temasek is a Singapore-headquartered global investment company with a net portfolio value of S$434 billion (US$324 billion, €299 billion, £250 billion, and RMB2.35 trillion) as of 31 March 2025. If its unlisted assets were marked to market, the uplift would be S$35 billion, taking the mark-to-market net portfolio value to S$469 billion.
Guided by the purpose “So Every Generation Prospers,” Temasek aims to create positive impact for both current and future generations. The organisation operates on commercial principles and is focused on delivering sustainable long-term returns.
Temasek has 13 offices across 9 countries: in Asia, these include Beijing, Hanoi, Mumbai, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Singapore; outside Asia, the offices are in Brussels, London, Mexico City, New York, Paris, San Francisco, and Washington, DC.
For more information, the company references its corporate website, Temasek Review 2025, and Sustainability Report 2025.
Sustainability Group
Sustainability sits at the heart of Temasek’s operating model, from its long-term mandate to the way it manages its institution, shapes its portfolio, and works with portfolio companies to help them build more sustainable businesses.
Working with teams across Temasek and its wider ecosystem, the Sustainability Group develops and drives strategies that support a climate-resilient, net zero portfolio, nature-positive and inclusive growth, new business opportunities and solutions for sustainable development, thought leadership on sustainability, and Temasek’s own growth as a sustainable organisation.
The Sustainability Group includes several sub-teams and works with the investment and functional teams to strengthen sustainability capabilities and the wider ecosystem.
- Sustainability Strategy: advances policy and strategy toward net zero, nature positive, and inclusive growth, while driving institutional and community sustainability initiatives.
- Sustainable Solutions: focuses on decarbonising portfolio companies and identifying new investment opportunities in sustainable living themes through emerging technologies and innovative solutions.
- ESG Investment Management: strengthens ESG integration across the investment process and supports portfolio engagement to improve resiliency and long-term value creation.
- Ecosperity: uses the Ecosperity platform to drive engagement, advocacy, and thought leadership throughout the year.
Role Overview
The Sustainable Solutions team works to advance sustainability across portfolio companies, including decarbonisation and water use reduction, while also identifying emerging themes and innovative solutions in sustainable living. This work involves supporting decarbonisation pathways aligned to Temasek’s 2030 and 2050 portfolio targets, as well as exploring technology areas with major emissions impact.
Focus areas include low-carbon energy solutions such as hydrogen, fusion, fission, and advanced geothermal energy; advanced biofuels and e-fuels for maritime and aviation use; electrification of heavy industry; data centres and cooling efficiency; and water solutions.
What You Will Do
- Help advance solutions that support decarbonisation across the Temasek portfolio in clean energy and water-related sectors, including capital deployment and solution-building activities.
- Contribute to workstreams centred on technology innovation, ecosystem-enabling initiatives, and where relevant, policy or regulatory proposals.
- Carry out research and analysis on emerging technologies, decarbonisation trends, policy and regulatory changes, and market or commercial factors, then translate the findings into practical insights for the broader Temasek ecosystem.
- Work with stakeholders to test and refine problem statements when required.
What We Are Looking For
- Students currently pursuing a degree in science, engineering, business, or finance are strongly preferred; applicants enrolled in advanced degree programmes are also welcome.
- Working knowledge of clean energy and water technologies and/or relevant markets.
- A strong sense of initiative and a solid work ethic.
- Exposure to techno-economic modelling and financial modelling will be helpful.
- Ability to work across different stakeholder groups and coordinate effectively with strong interpersonal skills.
- Creative, future-oriented, well-organised, detail-focused, and results-driven.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Genuine interest in driving positive climate impact and sustainability outcomes.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a 1-page cover letter that clearly states their availability, including start and end dates. The cover letter must also answer the following questions:
- Why do you want to join the Sustainability Group at Temasek?
- How will your past experience help you succeed in this role?
Additional Information
This role is for the period July to December 2026. The job is based in Singapore and is structured as a part-time, onsite opportunity. No salary or stipend amount was provided in the source.
