Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Project Engineer specialized in Energy, Power & Renewables to contribute to delivering major infrastructure projects throughout Ireland. This full-time, permanent position offers the chance to work with multidisciplinary teams under experienced project managers and engage in complex engineering and infrastructure developments within one of Ireland's most rapidly expanding sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Project Manager with planning, organizing, and successfully completing Energy, Power & Renewables projects.
- Oversee engineering activities ensuring conformance with project specifications, schedules, and quality standards.
- Evaluate engineering drawings, technical specifications, and design documentation for compliance and accuracy.
- Track project advancement and relay updates regarding timelines, resource allocation, costs, and technical challenges.
- Coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and on-site teams to maintain smooth project operations.
- Support procurement processes including technical queries, vendor assessments, and delivery schedules.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation such as technical submissions, requests for information (RFIs), method statements, and commissioning documentation.
- Participate in site meetings and contribute to solving technical and operational issues on site.
- Ensure adherence to Health & Safety regulations, Environmental and Quality Management Systems.
- Contribute to project scheduling, resource allocation, and overall planning efforts.
- Assist with commissioning, system testing, project handover, and closure activities.
- Identify and suggest continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project outcomes.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a proactive, well-organized engineer passionate about driving high-quality engineering projects and growing within the Energy, Power & Renewables industries.
Mandatory Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- 2 to 5 years of project engineering experience in Energy, Utilities, Infrastructure, Construction, or Renewables sectors.
- Sound knowledge of engineering fundamentals, project management, and construction methodologies.
- Proven ability to coordinate engineering efforts in multidisciplinary project environments.
- Excellent organizational and planning capabilities with multitasking skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal aptitudes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project/engineering management tools.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Holder of a full clean driving license.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
- Experience with Renewable Energy, Electrical Substations, High Voltage (HV), Medium Voltage (MV) infrastructure, or utility projects.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar engineering design software.
- Knowledge of project scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
- Understanding of contract and commercial project management processes.
- Membership or candidacy for membership with Engineers Ireland or Chartered Engineer status.
