Role summary
Orange County Government is looking for a Project Coordinator to support the Fire Rescue Logistics Division. This position combines special project work with administrative support for the division leadership team. The role focuses on improving division operations through research, analysis, and evaluation of programs, projects, and operating procedures. Work is carried out with a high level of independence while being guided by the assigned supervisor or manager.

What the job involves
- Providing administrative support to the Division Manager/Director and helping carry out special assignments.
- Supporting initiatives designed to improve how the division functions.
- Reviewing programs, projects, and operational processes through research and analysis.
- Working independently under general supervision, with results reviewed through observation, reports, and outcomes.
Representative duties
- Keeping a log of relevant activities.
- Helping the District Maintenance Supervisor and Project Manager organize, schedule, and oversee technicians and on-call labor.
- Handling special projects such as collecting pricing, comparing quotes, preparing administrative paperwork, working with technical drawings, contacting vendors, making site visits, and supporting prototype design.
- Coordinating and directing vendors.
- When instructed, helping certified staff control access to the facility for staff and visitors.
- When directed by certified personnel, notifying the right people during crisis situations.
- At supervisory direction, coordinating with outside agencies such as Emergency Operations and Facilities Management.
- Taking part in the department’s on-call rotation.
- Carrying out other assigned duties as needed.
Minimum qualifications
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Management, Facilities Management, or a closely related field, along with three years of experience using HVAC building automation software and work order tracking systems. Relevant additional experience may be accepted in place of the degree on a year-for-year basis.
A valid Florida Driver’s License is required and must be maintained.
The role also requires mandatory emergency standby duty on a rotating basis, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred background
Experience with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is preferred. Additional advantage will be given to candidates with experience using HVAC building automation software, work order tracking systems, and certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm, fire sprinkler, or door/gates trades.
Compensation and status
This is an exempt position in Pay Grade 015. Compensation is placement-based on education and experience, with a pay range from $25.00 to $32.49 per hour. A $1,000 sign-on incentive is also offered.
