Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Production Technician to join our Finished Product Integrated Process Team (IPT) at MSD Australia's Upper Hutt facility. This permanent full-time role supports the manufacturing and packing process of vaccine products in a GMP-compliant environment, ensuring products are handled with safety and accuracy in accordance with quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate packing lines following GMP regulations and approved standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Perform machine changeovers and basic setups on production equipment.
- Maintain accurate batch records and production documentation.
- Review, update, and author SOPs, batch records, and worksheets within designated timelines.
- Assist with change proposals and documentation updates adhering to Change Control processes.
- Contribute support to warehouse activities including goods movement, stock management, and inbound/outbound processes.
- Help with Gamma plant operations when required, including completing relevant training.
- Operate forklifts safely; reach truck operation considered a plus if licensed.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness throughout packing, warehouse, and Gamma areas.
- Engage in investigations, deviations handling, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Use analytical and problem-solving skills to thoroughly analyze deviations and process challenges.
- Effectively communicate with colleagues and other departments to support workflow and resolve issues.
- Identify and document hazards and environmental aspects to comply with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards.
- Promote and uphold a strong safety culture across the manufacturing department.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Practical experience working in manufacturing or warehousing settings.
- Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SAP software platforms.
- Strong written communication skills and numeracy.
- Effective organizational and time management abilities.
- Capacity to work independently and cultivate positive working relationships.
- Preferred experience in preparing technical reports or deviation investigations.
- Keen attention to detail with strong analytical thinking.
- Competence in machine setting and good mechanical aptitude.
- Possession of a forklift license; reach truck certification is highly desirable.
- Capability to safely perform manual handling tasks, including lifting up to 25 kilograms.
