Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled Production Designer to join our on-site print production team. This full-time day shift role emphasizes the creative execution of graphic designs tailored for print media. The ideal candidate will blend a strong design eye with technical proficiency to produce visually striking and print-ready materials that meet both customer and production specifications.

Primary Responsibilities

• Create and refine artwork suitable for a range of printed items and marketing collateral.
• Develop compelling layouts that effectively utilize typography, colors, imagery, and visual composition.
• Ensure designs comply with client demands, branding guidelines, and print production needs.
• Prepare digital files for printing, optimizing for output quality and accuracy.
• Critically review artwork for consistency, formatting integrity, and readiness for production.
• Work collaboratively with various internal departments to complete projects within deadlines.
• Manage multiple assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Offer innovative design ideas and solutions to improve quality and customer satisfaction.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• Possess a degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media, or related discipline; or demonstrate equivalent experience via a professional portfolio.
• Strong grasp of design principles including typography, layout, color theory, and visual hierarchy.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational aptitude.
• Ability to independently manage work as well as collaborate effectively within a team.
• Excellent communication capabilities coupled with creative problem-solving skills.
• Capable of thriving in a fast-moving production environment.

Preferred Experience

• Background in print production or commercial printing processes.
• Experience preparing files for print with knowledge of color management and production workflows.
• Proven ability to handle high-volume creative projects.
• Up-to-date with current design trends and industry standards.

Portfolio Requirement

Applicants must submit a portfolio demonstrating competencies in graphic design, typography, layout, branding, and production design efforts.

Compensation and Schedule

• Position offers $16.00 per hour.
• Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Work Environment and Location

This position is strictly on-site in Durham, NC; remote or hybrid working options are not available.
