Our solutions aid market analysts, traders, and asset managers in making informed decisions about pricing, congestion, transmission, and generation to support low utility prices and a reliable grid operation. Since 2008, we have established ourselves as a trusted supplier of innovative energy market intelligence, serving over 1,000 market participants across the US, Europe, and Asia.
Role Overview
The Product Owner at Yes Energy plays a pivotal role in shaping software products by ensuring engineering teams focus on building exactly what is needed, prioritizing work that aligns with customer needs, business goals, and technical feasibility. You will be responsible for maintaining the product backlog, writing precise user stories, leading Agile ceremonies, and fostering cross-functional collaboration among Product Managers, Engineers, UX Designers, Support, Customer Success, and Sales. Interaction with customers is essential to gather insights and guide feature development.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and prioritize a product backlog representing customer value, company strategy, and engineering bandwidth, making transparent prioritization decisions every sprint.
- Craft clear, detailed user stories with acceptance criteria, breaking down epics into granular sprint tasks without losing business context.
- Lead Agile team processes including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives, keeping the team aligned and productive.
- Act as liaison among stakeholders such as Product Management, Engineering, Customer Success, Sales, and clients to communicate priorities and trade-offs effectively.
- Leverage data analytics and customer feedback to guide prioritization and define success metrics for features and releases.
- Collaborate with UX, data engineers, QA, and platform teams to ensure designs are feasible and deliverables meet quality standards.
- Coordinate product releases and communicate launch details to internal teams and customers, ensuring proper documentation and impact visibility.
- Monitor and promote adoption and engagement for launched features, closing feedback loops with customers to enhance product value.
- Continuously learn about North American power markets, including ISO/RTO operations and energy pricing, to deepen domain expertise.
Qualifications
- Minimum one year of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or Business Analyst within software product development.
- Proven proficiency with Agile/Scrum practices, including backlog management, sprint ceremonies, and user story creation with acceptance tests.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of translating complex concepts for diverse audiences.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, design, QA, and client-facing teams.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and articulate trade-off decisions with clarity.
- Familiarity with Agile project management tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Comfort operating in complex, data-rich product environments with evolving requirements.
- Active use of AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) to enhance product ownership tasks like story drafting and stakeholder collaboration.
- Competency in using Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, including spreadsheets and collaborative documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Geography/GIS, or related fields.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Certifications like CSPO, PSPO, or SAFe POPM are advantageous.
- Experience working with SQL, Snowflake, Sigma, or Tableau for self-service analytics and defining product KPIs and adoption metrics.
- Strong analytical thinking to tackle complex problems and develop scalable solutions.
- Technical fluency with AI-augmented product development and data platforms such as Snowflake, Oracle, Tableau, or Sigma.
- Previous engagement with Sales and Customer Success teams to gather market insights and support go-to-market strategies.
- Attention to detail and adept at balancing demands from multiple stakeholders.
- Knowledge or exposure to North American energy markets, ISO/RTO functionality, or prior work with financial or real-time data analytics in regulated industries is a plus.
