Role overview

This position is for a Product Owner focused on bank operations platforms. The main goal is to increase the value delivered by the tools used across Operations by managing the product backlog, setting clear priorities tied to business objectives, and guiding delivery through Agile practices. The role acts as the key decision-maker for product capabilities while connecting Operations, Technology, Risk, and Compliance teams to build efficient, scalable, and compliant workflows.

Key responsibilities

Product ownership, strategy, and delivery are central to this role. The Product Owner will define the product direction, organize work by business value and risk, and make final calls on what should be delivered next. They will also work closely with Agile teams to shape user stories, manage sprint activities, and validate completed work against business needs.

  • Maintain and prioritize the product backlog in line with Operations goals and regulatory expectations.
  • Develop and share a product vision and roadmap for automation and digital workflow improvements.
  • Rank initiatives by business impact, operational efficiency, risk exposure, and compliance needs.
  • Serve as the final authority for feature ordering and backlog sequencing.
  • Write, refine, and manage user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Facilitate backlog grooming, sprint planning, and sprint review sessions with Agile teams.
  • Work with Scrum Masters and developers to deliver work on time and at a high standard.
  • Approve or reject completed items based on business requirements.
  • Adjust priorities continuously using feedback, metrics, and changing operational demands.
  • Act as the main point of contact between Operations, Technology, Product, Sales/Front-office, Risk/Compliance, and external vendors.
  • Collect and validate requirements while balancing competing business interests.
  • Keep senior leaders informed about progress, risks, and roadmap changes.
  • Ensure solutions align with regulatory requirements such as BSA/AML, audit controls, and internal policies.
  • Set and uphold governance standards and best practices for platforms including ServiceNow, RPAs, core systems, and payments.
  • Track platform usage, performance, and adoption trends to support continuous improvement.
  • Spot opportunities to automate work, digitize processes, and reduce operational risk.
  • Confirm that documentation, audit trails, and control frameworks remain complete and current.
  • Measure and report KPIs such as efficiency improvement, turnaround time, error reduction, and compliance impact.
  • Use analytics and business feedback to drive ongoing enhancements.
  • Run periodic reviews to verify the platform continues to create strong business value.

Requirements

The role calls for a strong product ownership background, hands-on Agile experience, and familiarity with banking operations or regulated environments. A bachelor’s degree is required, along with at least five years of experience in business analysis or a similar function. Experience with ServiceNow and an understanding of compliance-driven work are important.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar role, ideally within Operations or Financial Services.
  • Prior experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Background in banking operations, risk, or compliance-oriented settings.
  • Strong familiarity with ServiceNow, including App Engine, ITSM, and Workflow.
  • Ability to make clear product decisions and manage priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with stakeholders and executives.
  • Solid understanding of workflow automation and process improvement.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory expectations, including BSA/AML, audit practices, and internal controls.
  • Preferred certifications include CSPO or an equivalent credential.
  • Preferred ServiceNow certifications include CSA or CIS.
  • Portuguese and/or Spanish proficiency is considered an advantage.
  • Strategic thinking, data-driven judgment, accountability, and collaborative leadership are key personal strengths for success in this role.
