Job description
About the company
Visa is a global payments technology company that helps move money between consumers, businesses, financial institutions and public sector organizations in more than 200 countries and territories. Its purpose is to make it easier for people everywhere to pay and get paid.
At Visa, you can contribute to work that has real scale and relevance, while building your expertise and seeing the impact of your efforts across communities around the world.
Progress starts with you.
Role overview
This Product Manager role sits within the Digital Solutions area of the Solutions organization and focuses on supporting Visa Token Service initiatives, low-cost acceptance products such as Visa Accept, and emerging acceptance opportunities in urban mobility. The scope covers West Africa, with extensive coordination across business, technical, and functional teams including digital development, network processing, client support, risk, legal, and operations.
The role will work closely with issuers, merchants, and mobile ecosystem partners across SSA to deliver face-to-face payment solutions and support the Digital Solutions Payments Lead. It is centered on product leadership for tokenization and merchant solutions, helping drive new merchant verticals and next-generation proximity payment acceptance capabilities.
This position is well suited to someone with an engineering or pre-sales consulting background who wants to move further into product management within payments technology.
The ideal candidate is adaptable, coachable, and confident in communication, presentation, relationship-building, and organization. You should be comfortable handling several concurrent workstreams, thinking both strategically and tactically, and working independently in a fast-moving environment with limited supervision.
Responsibilities
Across West Africa, the role will lead tokenization and acceptance-related product work, from strategy and planning to integration support and launch execution.
Additional information
This is a hybrid role. The number of office days will be confirmed by the hiring manager.
Equal opportunity
Visa is an equal opportunity employer. Consideration for employment is provided without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or veteran status. Applicants with criminal histories may also be considered in line with applicable EEOC guidance and local law.
Qualifications
The role calls for a strong technical foundation, relevant product or integration experience, and the ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences. Candidates should be comfortable managing multiple initiatives, influencing across teams, and handling changing priorities.
Experience and background
A successful candidate will typically have more than 2 years of experience in product management, requirements gathering, and use-case design, along with a technical background. A Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of work experience is one acceptable qualification path; alternatively, an advanced degree with 4 years of work experience or a PhD with no prior work experience also meets the basic criteria.
Preferred academic background includes computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a closely related technology discipline, though equivalent technical expertise gained through work experience is also acceptable.
Key focus areas
The work covers Visa Token Service wallets, Visa Accept, transit solutions, product performance tracking, and product support for regional launches. It also involves pre-sales technical guidance, certification, pilot management, roadmap input, and coordination with partners and internal teams.
Selection preferences
Experience in mobile payments, contactless issuance, smart card deployments, NFC-based applications, or systems integration is preferred. Background in engineering, sales engineering, or pre-sales consulting with international exposure will be an advantage.
Work style and capability expectations
The role requires independent judgment, strong planning, structured problem solving, project coordination across internal and external stakeholders, and the ability to travel as needed.
